Freebridge Community Housing is the largest provider of housing in west Norfolk, managing around 7,000 domestic properties alongside a number community spaces, commercial premises and offices.
Although Freebridge manages a large number of properties, they had yet to implement a dedicated energy management system. At the time, their process primarily used spreadsheets, with energy data being provided by an energy broker on a monthly basis.
This approach limited real-time insights, presenting an opportunity for the business to enhance its control and visibility over energy consumption across its buildings
Steven Elmore, Energy and Sustainability Manager at Freebridge commented:
“Having manual processes in place didn’t give us enough oversight or understanding on how our buildings run and operate or provide us with any opportunities to identify where energy savings can be made.”
“Accessing the energy data once a month has been stopping us to act on any changes in the usage patterns. With MRI Energy, we will now be able to see when there’s an anomaly and address this immediately.”
Steven also explained his reasons of choosing MRI Energy:
“We looked at the market and reviewed some other EMS options. MRI Energy not only ticked all the boxes for the functionalities we were after, but also provided us with the most user-friendly solution to work with. On the top of that, we also liked the turnkey solution that MRI could offer us with all the configured functionalities to suit our business needs.”
Looking into the future, the business is also considering implementing MRI’s damp and mould management solution and Tenant Billing module to effectively manage their energy bills and streamline their processes to charge their tenants.
Steven also commented:
“We like the full package that MRI Energy could offer us. And these solutions will help us to future-proof our business when we’re ready to move forward with the next steps.”
